Indonesia’s Amazon sells $4.5 billion worth of merchandise at auction
Jakarta (AP) Indonesia’s largest e-commerce company Amazon is selling more than $4 billion worth in goods at an auction in Jakarta.
The Jakarta auction is the latest in a string of deals that Amazon has struck with local government agencies and private companies in recent years.
The company has also opened a branch in Indonesia.
Amazon has been making waves in the country.
In the last year, the company has closed down its local branch in the capital, Jakarta, and expanded its operations to Singapore.
It has also launched a new e-bookstore and a movie theater in the Indonesian capital, Kuching, and set up an office in the southern island of Java.
